December Wreaths | A Girls Afternoon

Nothing makes me quite so happy as filling up our home with people. As an introvert, I don’t get it. I get incredibly stressed the half-hour before guests are set to arrive. Just ask Michael. He tells me my eyes start bugging out. But it’s absolutely worth it every time. It just makes my heart happy. So I keep scheduling things, then asking myself what on earth I was thinking, only to exclaim to Michael afterwords, “That was so much fun!” He just rolls his eyes, hugs me, and grabs the broom to help me start cleaning up.

Well, this last weekend I combined my love for hosting with my love for wreath making. Having worked at a Christmas tree farm for years, I can’t stop the itch to gather greenery and pinecones every time December 1st rolls around. I invited the girls over for an afternoon of coffee, scones and learning how to makes wreaths; Graham and I collected pinecones every time we took a walk, and I gave the heads up to Michael that we’d be bringing home a truckload of greenery along with our Christmas trees this year.

The result was a sunny, wintery afternoon filled with the scent of fraser fir and orange chip scones and set to the backdrop of Christmas music and laughter. Don’t worry, I still freaked out for that half hour, but Michael told me my eyes weren’t quite so buggy this time.
